I've been rereading your Ace Attorney liveblogs, and I'm wondering, what's your favorite part from each game, if I may ask?
Ooh, good question!
For AA1, I think I have to slide past all of the interesting, dynamic character moments (the part in 1-3 where Edgeworth turns on Dee Vasquez and starts helping you is pretty great), and say that my absolute favorite part of the game is when I went "fuck it, I have a metal detector, I'll just nominate this as the way to prove that von Karma was shot in the shoulder because I don't know what else to do" and then it was the correct answer. I cannot stress how much I thought I'd fucked up and walked into another corner, and then it was the real answer.
That, and seeing the parrot and just knowing that this is The One Where We Cross-Examine A Parrot.
AA2, Matt Engarde's reveal is pretty great, as is the Pysche-Locks on Mia in 2-2. And every time Phoenix kicks a door down when he's worried about Maya.
AA3, Dahlia's exorcism is my favorite moment, followed in no order by Phoenix running off a bridge out of worry for Maya, and the moment that my brain short-circuited and I realized that Godot was the last co-conspirator with Misty and Iris.
AAI didn't really have any particular standout moments to me besides baby Franziska and everything that was ever going on with Lang.
AAI2, absolutely when Sebastian manages to stand up to his father. Blaise Debeste sucked so bad and I hated him so much so every time someone told him he sucked, I was cheering, and of course most of all when Sebastian realizes how much he fucking sucks. Fuck that guy.
AA4 was just like, gut punches all the way down, so in no particular order I loved: realizing that Phoenix forged the card in 4-1, being forced to present forged evidence as Phoenix in the 4-4 flashback, and honestly there were so many moments in 4-4 where I realized something a couple seconds before the characters and went "OH NO" like the Mishams being involved in Phoenix's disbarment, Kristoph having been the one who requested the forgery, "Shadi Smith" victim of 4-1 being Trucy's father, and all of the Kristoph-Klavier dynamic. Oh, and the black Psyche-Locks!
4-4 was really good for fantastic fucked-up moments of realization, because you have an overarching mystery for the full game that starts coming together, and as with the moment I realized Godot's involvement in 3-5, I really love those times when a bunch of the clues the game has laid out for me, some of which I didn't realize were clues, start coming together.
AA5, the Mood Matrix with Blackquill was so funny in a twisted sort of way, as he's the only witness Athena uses it on who gets worse as it goes on. And then the moment when he finally drops with the lies and admits what he actually saw.
And AA6, based on how much I loved coming to the most fucked-up conclusions in 3-5 and 4-4, you might be able to guess that my favorite part was the absolutely horrific realization that Dhurke was dead the entire time.
Like, there's plenty of moments in the AA series that I had absolutely no idea what the game was driving at, but then there were the times when everything came together brilliantly but the answer was so horrible that I kinda wished it didn't, and I loved it every time.
