Some things were always certain to Noah when it came to family. She was always certain that her parents loved each other, they never needed anyone but each other, but things didn’t always stay that way. It was a tough conclusion to come to, especially with her mother’s sudden engagement to her principal, but the last two years of engagement had actually been nice. Noah didn’t ever expect to get along with Brock Remington and she never expected to have or want a brother, but it certainly came in the strange form of Rocky and she weirdly... missed him while he was away. She knew he was with Zoe, but Noah still unfortunately had a habit of sticking her nose in the books and if she didn’t catch up on schoolwork before the wedding, then she’d never get it done. Spotting Rocky just a few centimeters away, she excused herself from her grandma, who she had spent most of the time mingling with, to walk over to Rocky. “Hey you,” she said with a smile, nudging his shoulder. “Nice seeing your face here,” she teased, “did you enjoy New York? Did Zo take you to that cool bagel place?” She asked quickly. “Oh! Also, tell me about all the crazy shit you’ve been up to, Invisible Man. Like, is your totally hot Spanish girlfriend here?”

𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍: Thursday, December 31st. Near midnight.

𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄: Clarington-Smythe residence.

Lemon had quickly realized she needed to change after her big win. The long champagne formal dress had definitely helped with her win, but she couldn’t show up to Link and Winnie’s house looking like she was going to prom and that’s why Lemon Lopez-Pierce always came prepared. She had packed a little pink ensemble to wear and once the original after party had started dying down, she slipped into the bathroom and managed to get out of her dress all on her own and into her second outfit for the evening. Most of her after after party time was spent hanging out with her friends, spending time with Dom, and harassing her brothers. It was a night well spent in her eyes and as she looked at her clock, she realized the countdown to midnight would probably start within the next fifteen minutes or so.

As if the fates were aligning the pair, Lemon’s eyes locked onto Rocky’s. Shit. She could have smiled and waved, be the benevolent person she was. Or she could have pretended she didn’t see him, but she wasn’t rude. Or she could saunter over and banter with him like she had done multiple times before, but then she’d risk being near him at midnight where he would definitely try to kiss her. Before she could make up her semi-drunken mind, her feet were moving in Rocky’s direction. Did she have no self-control? “Rocky,” she tipped her cup to knock with his. “Where’s my congratulations and compliments?” She asked, partially joking. If she wasn’t drunk, she probably would have opted for her first choice nor would she be asking for any kind of compliment, but this time she wanted it. Everyone had told her how good she looked or how much she deserved Girl of the Year, but she wanted to hear it from Rocky.
