THEO!!!!!!! YOUR TAGS. I LOVE YOU. i BUSTED my ass rearranging those screenshots' compositions to unawkwardify them. the most difficult one by far was the yami+anzu beserker soul shot because the anime just gave me like....no good frames to work with LMAOO i had to practically rework that one from scratch.
gonna be real with you, season 4 is physically painful to look at sometimes because the animation quality is so godawful. and it's like.... I GET IT because animation is frickin' difficult + budget and time constraints = stanky looking visuals. But then sometimes it looks almost good. and if that's not a beautiful summary of the orichalcos arc then i don't know what is: it's almost good. almost. anyway where's that one post about how mid-as-fuck media will haunt you forever with its potential
all of this random 6 AM rambling to say. Thank you for your keen observations you are a blessing to artists everywhere. spamming 10000 hearts and stars at you my friend
:D your efforts showed!!! your pieces are way more animated than the screenshots you selected. smh they should have hired you 😔 (though i’d guess even the rough compositions and poor key frames for everything was also just budget cuts. animation preproduction is HARD so there’s not much that can be done to make it better on low time + low pay. tbh i’d bet the reason it almost looked good sometimes is bc the artists working on it knew what they were doing they just weren’t given the conditions to put in the effort or do revisions or anything. or just combinations of good + bad quality at various stages of production.)
ngl i was restraining myself from asking if you’ve ever thought about storyboarding the entire time i was writing those tags. unfortunately (as far as i’ve heard) the industry kind of sucks for storyboarders rn so i cannot suggest it in any kind of meaningful manner but seriously your understanding of composition and movement and what angles are needed for clarity is SO GOOD. and putting that against the screenshots from the anime shows that very well.
i haven’t seen any of the orichalcos arc (minus various random clips and the entirety of the berserker sequence) but you captured the lost potential of it so well that i can see why it gets a grip on people even though i haven’t personally felt it. it would have been so good if it were good. too many threads woven together a little too loosely without enough thought behind them to get it all the way there…man…
