"The ski jumping hill of Roccaraso in Abruzzo was built in 1925 by the local ski club with the support of the ski club of Rome - which explains the name of the ski jump. In mid-1930s it was renovated and in 1953 completely rebuilt as a ski jumping facility with a total of three ski jumps. The large "Trampolino Roma" allowed jumps up to 75 meters. It was used until 1964 for national and international competitions. The smaller hills were probably used until around 1990 - in 1985, Ivo Pertile won the youth championships there ahead of Robert Cecon.”

In questa silenziosa località boschiva alle porte del paese, 21 Novembre 1943 le truppe tedesche trucidarono oltre 60 cittadini inermi, tra uomini, donne, anziani e bambini. Condotti dal signor Fausto, che all'epoca dei fatti aveva solo tre anni, siamo tornati a ripercorrere quei luoghi profondamente scanditi da un silenzio che sembrava durare da più di settant'anni. Un lungo silenzio rotto in apparenza solo qualche settimana fa, con la sconfitta in tribunale della città di #Berlino, costretta a risarcire con 1,6 milioni di euro il comune di #Roccaraso, proprio in virtù di questa drammatica pagina di storia contemporanea.
