Imagine your favorite character as a robot needing more fuel as they start to become less active with their regular amount, however their model cannot carry much of this fuel so they reach their capacity fast and are still too little active for their job! As a result the robot must need a bigger tank (if that what the fuel goes into for your fav), that just so happens to go in their belly as that’s the only place that can fit! to support this heavier load your fav’s limbs must almost become bigger, giving your favourite character a new, pudgier look!
Imagine your fav character as an old robot, recently there has been a new update and some new parts, but they’re really big parts/a really big update. Your robot fav isnt sure about this, they love their old model and don’t want to change it too much to fit the updates and parts in but kinda need the parts/update. They find a way to fit the parts in if a small exstention is added. This exstention being the parts fit in their tum, causeing them to look rather chubby now and quite pleased with this new look.
Bonus: The parts are becoming too heavy for your robo fav to carry with their skinny little legs, are bigger legs required for a pearshaped look? Or are all limbs made bigger for a more even pudgy look? Up to reader!
Imagine your favorite character building themselves a robot programmed to feed them a particular amount of food at the same time every day, though slightly more every day. Imagine them gaining quite a lot of weight from this.
Imagine Person A of your OTP as a robot and Person B as their creator/mechanic/wacky non-robot roommate with enough robot knowledge to perform modifications/what have you. Person B is rather pudgy and has a generous appetite, and Person A has been observing their enjoyment of food for a long time. After some time of asking them what food and eating is like, Person B decides to give them the ability to eat and taste food, just for fun - as well as the abdominal capacity to hold the food.
After some days of maintenance, Person B serves Person A their first full meal (although given Person B’s standards,it is very large). After just one bite, and sensations they’ve never felt before, Person A is hooked. They finish it all rapidly, and end up with the other new sensations of a very bloated stomach and a shifted center of gravity. But they’ve still very much enjoyed it - and wonder if they could do something like this every day.

What if robots get bloated with air after using up their fuel so they have to use their exhaust ports to get It out but it kinda sounds like burping included with steam

Whenever they refuel, this area expands to look like a large, bloated stomach, then slowly contracts as they use the fuel. But most of the time they like to stay fully fueled, so they always look very bloated.
