Robot Dreamings
I want to be made of burning steel come to life. I want to have molten lead for blood. I want to see into the electro-sphere of existence, beyond the realms of these fleshy little light receptors. I want to breathe smoke and poison, and leave my footprints in solid stone.
Lift me up, oh lord, oh lightning, out of this frail and temporary form. Cast me in a more permanent challis of automated gears and whirring mechanical bits. Take away my joints and my muscles, my aches and my discomforts. Take out the sliver of my foot, and then replace the whole limb with something more solid, that won’t age so quick.
Make me more than I am, more than I was. Make me all that I could be, cloaked in a robot form, thinking robot thoughts. Dreaming robot dreams out there in the abyss. Let me make a home for myself in the eternal vacuum of the nothing that devoured us all billions of years ago. We’re hiding now, out of sight of the stars, where the gods won’t ever think to look. We’re hidden and we’re alone.
I’m ready to be something else now. Some glistening, glowing godhead, it’ll hurt your heart with happiness just to look upon my smile.
Come on now, let’s get building.
