Who's Who In The DC Universe #2: Automan, Azrael, and Babe
Automan
Conceived and constructed by Professor Miller Sterling
The first graduate of Robot Tech, an institute for higher learning designed exclusively for metal men
Robt #32198, dubbed Automan by his creators, was hired as anything from a manservant to a bodyguard
Constructed entirely of meteorite manganese
Survived into the 21st century where he ultimately came in contact with private detective Star Hawkins and life-bonded with Hawkinsā robot secretary Ilda
I have not read any appearance of Automan but I am intrigued by the idea of Robot Tech. Did it make any appearances in the post-Crisis continuity. What qualifies as a mechanical man? Red Tornado would be able to attend but what about The Brain or Robotman? Their brains are encased it mechanical shells ā do they make the cut? What about Cyborg, Steel or Metallo? And now I want a Robot Tech miniseries ā come on DC, letās have some fun.
Azrael
Azrael is an alien being whose spaceship crashed atop Mount Michelson in Alaska
Azrael and his ship were discovered in its icy tomb by S.T.A.R. Labs
S.T.A.R. Labs successfully dethawed Azrael using the research of the late scientist Elinore Stone (Cyborgās mom)
He possesses no memory of his former life, his planet of origin, his mission in space or his true name
DCās original Azrael. He appeared almost exclusively in the Teen Titans comics. I remember he was involved with/stalked Lilith and became entangled in the Church of Brother Blood. He was rather emo and whiny. I donāt think heās been seen since post-Infinite Crisis ā was he killed during this time? The Titans underwent a tremendous bloodbath during this era between Superboy Prime, Black Adam, and Deathstrokeās villain team. I canāt remember if he was one of the casualties or not.
Babe
A native of the planet Egg, Babe was approximately two years old when he was kidnapped by the star freighter Kilos
The captain thought Babe would be a profitable slave considering the large size, immense strength, and passive nature of young Eggites
Eggites are mineral-based and as they get older, they increase in bulk until they mature into sentient mountains with extremely long life spans
Babe, at two years old, is 14ā2ā and 1650 lbs
Babe was freed from slavery by Morphea and she became an adoptive mother-figure and protector
Morphea and Babe later joined the Atari Force
He is slow to anger and has a great sense of loyalty to his friends
Iāve only read one Atari Force story way back in the mid-1980s. I donāt recall many details. Batman can now claim he isnāt the worst when it comes to child endangerment as the Atari Force is letting a two-year-old fight for them.
