Karlach Cliffgate - BG3

I mean, what's not to love? She's an absolute sweetheart. Kicks ass. Literally hot as hells, and feels so deeply and is fiercely loyal. And I love that she's unapologetically rough around the edges, foul-mouthed, and honest. I love her so much 🥹

Varric Tethras - DA2

It was hard to decide whether to put him or Isabela here tbh. They're both favourites. I enjoy his sense of humour and sarcasm, and the way he messes with people so you can't always take what he says at face value heh. You know I'm a sucker for the sneaky rogue archetype, but he's also very loyal to the people he cares about (I'm sensing a theme here lol). He also has a very sexy voice, just sayin'... I mean what? Who said that?

Jieli - Love Between Fairy and Devil

I mean I've already talked typed your ear eyes off about Jieli so this will be no surprise to you lmao. @defira85 told me when I started watching LBFAD that Jieli was basically Mae, and they were 100% correct. Jieli is a morally ambiguous, sneaky, opportunistic, fast-talker schemer. clever and adaptable, and skilled at deception and disguise. But she's had to be that way to survive. Deep down, she is softie but she's had to protect herself and hide that. She doesn't know what to do with altruistic, unconditional love and kindness. She's sassy and brusque and I love that she's a manspreader lmao. I could go on, but I don't want to spoiler in case you finally get around to watching lol. But I love my short queen <3

V - Which character do you relate to most?

feels like a bit of a cop out to put Karlach again, but it's true. I too have a lot of burning rage in me (albeit without the physical strength to back it up like she does lmao). I value loyalty and am ride or die for my friends and feel everything deeply. I will infodump on my friends if prompted and lose my train of thought in the middle of it XD.

There's another, more personal reason I relate to her specifically, but it's not very pleasant so I will spare my followers from that lol

I think at the risk of sounding soppy and sentimental, I love how many friends I've made through fandoms. For all the less enjoyable aspects that often come with fandom - discourse and shipping wars and worse - that makes me tend to only play around the edges (because I'm far too old and tired for that shit lol), I've met some awesome people (like you <3) through shared fandoms and I'll always be grateful for that <3

2. A piece you're proud of and why?

I'll say Sunk Cost Fallacy, which was the first piece I ever produced for a zine. Hooray me! And beyond the excitement of being in a zine, I'm just really proud of the concept and I feel like I did a really good job of capturing the voices of the Three Chosen

5. A scene you enjoyed creating

I think Chapter 12 of A Heart As Cold As Ice, specifically the section in the mindflayer colony from Gale's POV. I loved writing the body horror and the exhaustion, the way he teetered on the verge of numb vs mindlessly hysterical about his presumed death, and the slow, agonising reveal as he finally put the pieces together and realised how much Ryme'dra had been lying to everyone. It's bleak and it's tense and it's awful and I loved it

23. Rec another creator's work you wish more people would see

I'll go ahead and say @rdekarios's regency AU week fic Sorcery and Scandals. Not least of all because it was her first attempt at posting fanfic (SCARY!!!) but also because I went screaming into her inbox yelling IS THAT THE SCENE FROM PERSUASION 2007 SPECIFICALLY

I think... I think he takes a leaf out of both Halsin and Shadowheart's romance paths. He just likes to do a moonlight picnic. Nothing particularly fancy, just a blanket and some food, a couple of bottles of wine and the stars above them. He's not a city boy, he's very happy spending his time between Reithwin and Moonhaven, so he's not going to take them out to a restaurant or a gallery or a theatre show

If he's really fancy, he tries to make it a charcuterie board on the picnic rug

2) favorite chapter in favorite fic of yours- this is cheating but I'm going to say Heron and Shadowheart's chapter of "and so my heart became a void." I really, truly cherish it. I come back to it often (feel free to thwap me for not commenting every time bc I don't want to overwhelm your inbox, I will go back and add another now!!) It is my favorite Shadowheart anything I've ever read, bar none, hands down, no contest. The voices are perfect the vibe is perfect every line is perfect. It means so, so much to me and brings me so much joy. THEY'RE GOOD KIDS, AUNTIE!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?

It would have to be my Rhyme and Gale fic, A Heart As Cold As Ice. I've always loved drow, and I'm so very proud of all the world-building I've done for Rhyme and commoner drow culture and Ched Nasad and her relationship with faith and divinity... it's my beloved. I've not gotten as much of it written this year as I wanted, but I AM close to the end. It's my baby

5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?

It technically wasn't written this year, but it did get a whole bunch of attention this year that surprised me, and that's A Girl Called Midnight. The number of people who were so enthusiastic about it and wanted to talk about Mystra lore with me was just so lovely

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?

Being ambushed emotionally by Gromph mother-fucking Baenre. How did he get so important to my canon. I object strenuously

I was going to hold off longer, but my fic just reached 200 hits and I feel that's worth celebrating! (Plus I was tagged by both @robinyourcreator and @sandetigerrr so it only seems fair lol)

After introducing herself as Lady Esther – the title and noble bearing earning Mae's spite even more than she'd already had by accosting them to share her sob story. But the more the woman talked, the more that spite turned to stunned amusement. How is this bitch still alive? This is insane levels of reckless stupidity. "Not only that, darling. But she thinks she can get us to do her dirty work for her," Astarion scoffed.
