I’m not entirely done with Oathbringer but I’m seeing strong Zuko/Jet vibes with Kaladin/Moash. And something about the way Lady Lewshi talked to Moash about his “passion” sounded like shorthand for whatever urges men forward with the Thrill. Since he’s been paralleling Kaladin (similar backstories causing their distrust and hatred of lighteyes, how they were affected by the injustice, their comparable spearmen and martial abilities—I’d even say the same since Kaladin was “enhanced” for longer than we realized by Syl—to how Moash ends up in the same position as Kaladin, depressed and dejected and somehow finding the will to live after looking over a long drop, then deciding to help the other slaves train to survive what’s basically a repeat of the bridge runs) but where Kaladin resisted his “passions” and realized true justice required he follow oaths of Honor... Moash is ruled by his passions and instead seeks vengeance, which requires Hatred. Oathpact. Vengeancepact. I don’t think Moash will be redeemed since we’ve seen so many characters with similar dark paths already turn from it. I think Moash was recognized by Lady Lewshi to have great potential, and since in the same conversation she revealed she and the other Fused simply claim new bodies offered to them upon death, it hints that Moash is being groomed to be claimed as wel. But not by a Fused.
Moash is being groomed for the Champion of Hatred.
I don’t know if this is already a big theory in the fandom since I’m a book behind and avoid spoilers in tags (most of the time) but I think it’s both obvious and the clear path. Like it being obvious doesn’t detract from how impressive it is. I also really feel for Moash, and tbh Cosmere’s fandom is white and straight af so it looks like very few understand this character. I like Moash but am also interested in seeing him become a force to be reckoned with. Also waiting for Dalinar to reveal to the entire world that Jezerezeh is actually darkeyes to shatter the lighteyes caste’s claim to divinity.
