Robert Irwin Dinosaur Hunter 5: Call of the Wild

A camping adventure unlike any other! Robert is out camping in the outback with his family and Riley. The boys can hear dingoes howling to one another, and they imagine what it might have been like to hear muttaburrasaurus calling to one another. The fossil takes him back to the mid-Cretaceous in the dead of night, where they experience firsthand the unusual call of the wild.

Author Q&A with Robert Irwin, the Dinosaur Hunter!

Crikey! Robert Irwin is taking you on a prehistoric adventure in his new Dinosaur Hunter series! He took a moment to speak to Random House Australia about his new books and his passion for dinosaurs.

What would you tell other kids to get them to read your books?

My series of books, Robert Irwin: Dinosaur Hunter are really fun, exciting, action packed adventures, where kids can learn about more unusual dinosaurs as they travel back in time with me and my friend Riley to discover incredible prehistoric creatures. I think reading opens up a whole new world where you can discover and learn new things.

What is the best thing about looking for dinosaurs?

Looking for dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures is incredibly exciting because you never know what you are going to find. You could even discover a new species! When you do find something, even if it’s something really small it is amazing to be holding what was a living breathing animal that hasn’t seen the light of day for over 65 million years.

Who would you really like to learn more things from?

I am very lucky because I know many Scientists and Paleontologists; I am always learning new things from them. One Scientist I would like to learn even more from is Professor Craig Franklin from the University of Queensland, who every year comes with us on our annual crocodile research trip to the Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve.

IT'S pretty cool to star in your own adventure novel, along with your best mate. Just ask Robert Irwin. The son of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin is about to make his literary debut in a new book series alongside real-life best friend Riley. Robert Irwin Dinosaur Hunter brings the nine-year-old's love of prehistoric creatures to the written world. The first four books in the series will be published next month, with four more coming later in the year.

The 14-year-old animal conservationist and her family showed off some of their favorite animals during the launch event.
