Flashback 1998: Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, Together Again
Tune in Thursday, Feb. 19th at 11 a.m. PT/ 2 p.m. ET for the 40th Anniversary Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti Deluxe Edition Premiere from London?s Olympic Studios, exclusively streamed by Yahoo Live!
In early 1998, in New York City, we were fortunate enough to be plopped down in front of Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, who, with a bluescreen behind them, were in town to discuss their new collaborative effort, Walking Into Clarksdale.
From the get-go, this was an important point to make: This wasn?t a Led Zeppelin reunion, as integral band member John Paul Jones did not participate in either this album or its 1994 predecessor, No Quarter: Jimmy Page And Robert Plant Unledded. But it was a good sign?as while Plant and Page had made minor contributions to each other?s post-Zeppelin solo material, it was a further affirmation that the pair could again work together on a more extended and comprehensive level. And not incidentally, Walking Into Clarksdale also rocked.
The humor and camaraderie that one would naturally expect from longtime partners Page & Plant was well on display during the interview, and for Led Zeppelin fans of the era?who never expected to see the band perform again?it was highly illuminating. Watch it and see for yourself.
