I have tried employment agencies since graduating Williams in 2009 and have not been able to get a job through any of them (Robert Half, 24 Seven, AppleOne--AND the rest. How is that even possible? Who are they giving jobs to?
Unrelated to employment agencies: I'm Korean. Native Angeleno. I have not had many Asian coworkers except at a Korean company akin to Stripe I worked at briefly. I also worked at a Japanese company associated with Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These were not related to any employment agencies, though.
I've gotten about 10 interviews through them in 20 years and last year, they gave me a data entry job (in a Latinx-focused labor union), and another as a temp receptionist (at an Asian company) despite my request to be contacted for senior writing positions. And of course I have sent individual applications to companies in the county of Los Angeles. I never hear back and I don't know what is wrong with them....

helpful job application tip: If it's from Brooksource, Robert Half, or Insight Global, skip it. Don't even bother. If you can hide jobs from those companies on whatever platform you're using, do it. They have dozens of jobs posted on places like Indeed and LinkedIn literally all the time, but never even bother to send an automated email rejecting you. I'm pretty sure they're just recruiters (I know Robert Half is) and they will not contact you about anything ever no matter how many times you apply. Complete waste of time.
