man, record exec bullshit has screwed over Robert Fleischman too many times. I have a hot take about something involving him, see. If it wasnāt for rat bastard execs and the Invasionās grubby ass manager, heād have stayed on Vinnie Vincentās Invasion and there would have been at least five more albumsāthough the same people screwed Vinnie Vincent over in the end, so the guys would have had to find a different record label, and Vinnie would have needed a different bassist, but honestly? Yeah.
And you know, some people seem to think Vinnie wanted Mark Slaughter. No. No he didnāt. He wanted Robert. Chrysalis Records wanted Mark Slaughter because he was pretty and relatively femme. Robert didnāt fit their commercial style (speaking of which, the bastards tried to make Vinnie tone it all down. They wouldnāt let him do what he wanted on guitar or embrace his androgyny. But thatās for another time). Can sing Mark? Sure. Heās got a band. But you know what Iāve learned? Not only is Robert a better person than Mark, but he sings better too. I never heard about Robert slagging somebody but Mark slagged Cinderella and got his ass kicked by Tom Keifer. Did I mention Mark Slaughter canāt hold his tongue? Yeah.
Very interesting interview with Robert Fleischman, the singer Steve replaced in journey. He talks Herbie, Steve joining pretending to be a cousin ha and Neal being upset.
DG: Okay. Letās talk about some of the allegations made against you regarding your time with the band. An official Journey publication (footnote 1) states that you were fired by Herbie because you were overly demanding and arrogant. Another (footnote 2) states that Herbie fired you when you complained that you didnāt have enough of the limelight. And in his 2001 interview with my colleague Matt Carty, Herbie stated that you were a āpompous little poodle, and really tough to deal with.ā How do you respond to that? Whatās your side of the story?

Vinnie Vincent Invasion's self titled debut album is released.
Two singles were released, "Boyz Are Gonna Rock" and "Back on the Streets". A music video was only made for "Boyz Are Gonna Rock", In the video the singer in the video isĀ Mark SlaughterĀ rather than the actual singerĀ Robert Fleischman. Fleischman left the band prior to filming the video and Mark lip-synched to Fleischman's vocals.
The song "Invasion" (for theĀ CDĀ andĀ cassetteĀ versions) contained about three minutes of loopingĀ guitar feedbackĀ at the end of the song. TheĀ recordĀ version had the same feedback, but the difference was that it never ended until you picked up the needle. This was because the sound went all the way to the end of the vinyl, causing the needle to loop it over and over again. TheĀ liner notesĀ state that noĀ pedals, outboard gear orĀ synthesizersĀ were used anywhere on the album.
The album was listed 8th onĀ Kerrang!'s list of hard rock albums in 1986. The same magazine listed the album 100th on their list ofĀ 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time. In the bookĀ Fargo Rock City, journalistĀ Chuck KlostermanĀ names it the second greatest heavy metal album of the 1980s, behind onlyĀ Appetite For DestructionĀ by Guns N' Roses.Ā Rolling StoneĀ listed it 39th on their 2015 list of Greatest Hair Metal albums of all time.
