Dark Ambient is a subgenre of Ambient music in which the soundscapes take on an ominous tone. A common theme in dark ambient music is the use of discordant notes which produce a sound which some have called "unsettling". I have also heard some say that this music is "soothing". For me it tends to make me thoughtful and contemplative.
