After Radio Birdman disbanded, Rob Younger formed the New Christs. later recording this brooding though hard rocking garage rock song.

Years ago, I was at a record swap here in Davis, and my friend Brad was there selling some of his stuff. He told me that I needed to buy The New Christs "Detritus" EP 4 track compilation. I knew nothing about the band, but I trusted Brad, so I heeded his advice and bought the 12".

Here we are, years later, and I'm finally giving it a spin because I saw that "The Burning of Rome: Selected Works" was getting co-released by Wild Honey Records and FOLC. Seems like The New Christs are heading back out on the road here in 2025.

The one constant in the band throughout the years has been Rob Younger who was in Radio Birdman. Over the years, Younger was able to attract talent from bands like Celibate Rifles, Lime Spiders, The Barracudas and Hoodoo Gurus to play in The New Christs (Sydney, Australia).

It is certainly easy to draw a line from bands like The Saints to The New Christs. But it's important to keep bands like The New Christs in the flowchart of Aussie rock history. It's probably why Owen Penglis (Straight Arrows) mastered this compilation.
