I’m excited about this too!! God I keep thinking it’s already out but no, publishing just takes a long-ass time lol. 

I’m excited about my Akali cosplay, even if I still have a bunch of work ahead of me; and I’m excited about wearing it the first time at 221b con, and I’m excited about 221b con! 

Also, writing!! I would have said this even if it wasn’t you asking, but I’m glad you were the one who asked, since you were part of the reason I started and were so supportive!!

Oh God, this just hits home how much I don’t read anymore! I’d much rather write than read, lmao. I’d say that the best book I read this year was a book from last year, Star Wars’ From a Certain Point of View. I got Hunger by Roxane Gay as a Christmas present this year though, which I’m really excited to read.

IDK it just seems weird and creepy that anon thinks of these kids as having no agency and only as political pawns.

And honestly the "dressing your child" wording is weirdly designating you the personal task of selecting each of your kids' items of clothing? Which if they knew anything about your blog they'd know your kids are old enough to pick their clothes and dress themselves.

Oh man, seriously creepy.  Kids start dressing themselves in single digits, and also, what kind of parent actively *wants* their offspring to steal their clothes? Not me! lol. I’ve always encouraged both my kids to do what feels right for them, not what peer pressure and society says they should do based purely on their reproductive organs. Pawns they definitely are not.

FWIW, I didn’t get that message at all. The message I got, very clearly was “Ben has support if he wants to change, but he has to make the change himself”. Even Luke says at the end “*I* can’t save him” and when Leia says her son is gone (which feels more like despair than a true belief), Luke immediately responds with “Nothing is ever truly gone.” Rey learned that lesson as well–SHE can’t turn Kylo, he has to do it himself.

Ahhh you are right.  There comes a time when no one else can offer you a hand.  They’ve already tried and failed.  Then, it is only you who has the power to climb up out of the abyss you’ve thrown yourself into.  People who are addicts, convicts with violent pasts, people with chronic illness who aren’t ready to face themselves....there’s only so far others can carry you.  You have to reach rock bottom before you can will yourself to do better.  Maybe that is a place Kylo/Ben will have to get to before there’s any hope left for him. :(  I’m not sure how much farther down he needs to go, as he’s already at what looks like the lowest place.  But there is always a darker layer beneath, always a step lower you can get to, even if that is simply inside yourself.

Back to the words that were said by Luke: upon rewatching it today with the office folks, I tried to pay close attention to exactly what people said.  I noticed when Luke said “No one is ever truly gone.”  I started to churn it all over in my head, all the various possibilities these words could lead to.  Still, hearing Leia, Luke, AND Yoda express that Kylo is lost.  I just killed me.  Then I thought, what if Rey is the one who’s right when they were all wrong?  What if she’s truly able to see something that no one else can see in Kylo/Ben?
