#road tripping

there are no people, but there is evidence they were there recently

everyone is looking directly at me and smiling

everywhere I go people are hiding from me, locking doors as I approach

this whole-ass town isn't on my map or GPS

I remember everything about this town just before it happens

everyone is carrying a well-used foot-long knife on their belt

everyone who sees me taps their watch and says, "sundown coming"

no matter what street I take I end up back in town square

I am older than everyone else I see

everyone else is moving in odd-numbered groups and speaking in unison

the conversation is normal but everyone has the same voice
