          “Messed up?” Rowan’s eyebrows rose as he looked at the other boy. His arms were crossed over his chest. He wasn’t judging, but vaguely annoyed. Being bothered with such problems was such an exhausting thing. But still, this boy was his friend and he had to be sympathetic to him.

          Blood. There was so much blood he couldn’t get away from it. It coated the floor, the furniture, his hands. It was everywhere he looked-- that vile red liquid. He was screaming to make it go away, but no one could hear him. No one was coming to his rescue. There was a lurch inside of him, like his stomach was churning over. Then another, and another.

          Rowan’s eyes were dark, shaded over. He’d done it again. He’d lost control and let the monster inside of him take over. The worst part, he didn’t even remember what he’d done. But there he was on the night street, being only illuminated by the various lamps. He made his way down the street in a slowly, staggering motion.
