On the road from Registered Nurse to Naturopathic Physician. RN to NMD!!

I truly am grateful to be in medical school; I’m a first generation Jamaican-American and the first in my entire family to be in medical school was a joy and a privilege. I am my ancestors wildest dreams. I am my own wildest dreams.

Due to COVID we cant do live dissection so we utilize “Complete Anatomy” and honestly I love it.

How are you guys adjust to med school online? Any tips or tricks for a newbie?

2020 as we all know was a rough year but there was also a bright side amid the storm.

For me, that bright side was beginning Naturopathic Medical School.

I’ve been a nurse for 8 years but it has been a dream of mine to become a physician.

I have a deep passion for science and understanding how the human body works in health and disease. Working as an RN I noticed that majority of physicians profit from their patient's illnesses than they do in healing their patients.

So with that, I knew I couldn’t become an MD; I thought of becoming a DO but residency is mostly taught by MDs and I didn’t like that. So faith allowed me to find Naturopathic Medicine, which has a long history of treating the root cause, treating and healing the whole person.

Tenets that I hold dear to my heart.

I completed my first quarter with a 3.3 GPA and I am grateful! A lot has transpired; moving cross country amongst other things.

Next quarter I’m aiming for a 3.6 or > GPA.

Naturopathic Medicine is the future! With this COVID pandemic, we as a nation and as a species are beginning to understanding that holistic healing is needed and how we eat, live, and think are important factors.
