Truthfully I have no idea how they’re supposed to look, or even who they are, but I’m guessing it’s a task force of monsters hunting monsters made by the overseers? Perhaps, or perhaps not.

Okay so first off, Jax is a grown ass adult, Gloom is a child or maybe a pre teen.

Gloom acts like your typical wanna be cool emo kid, somewhat unbothered and all, more passive to everything.

Jax doesn't act like that, sure he acts unbothered but he also acts like a comedic relief wanna be, reactive to everything with "comedic effect".

Gloom doesn't actively harm his friends, Jax actively and consciously harms the other circus members.

Sure he had a fight with Zappy but even in that fix he was more passive and doing more dodging than attacking, when he noticed just how much she was hurt and how the fighting was making it worse he removed himself from the situation with the portal thingy, that action might not have been completely intentional but he still did.

Jax swears, not a lot but he does.

Gloom unironically says unalive, and I honestly think it fits him for some reason.

In the few short run monsters run posted it is shown that while he doesn't really seem to initiate physical contact with his friends he doesn't push them away.

Tell me how you see that and the first thing you said is "Ho I hope he doesn't turn out like Jax".

They're not even the same archetype of character. Adult comic relief character vs child emo characters.
