Jul 21: Today David and I celebrate our 25th Anniversary. Two and half decades of fun with this fella. And we’ve got a lot of family and friends to thank, starting with my parents who have been some sort of a pioneer in Indonesia, for urging their son to come out, to be himself, and to be happy, against all odds and all the naysayers. And David’s mother who had welcomed me with open arms and hot kisses 💋 Our siblings and in-laws, nieces and nephews, who never questioned our union. My aunt Marina, a brilliant psychiatrist and former guardian, who gave me life’s lessons and drilled me on finding solutions to all its problems; and who told me that for a relationship to succeed, one needs Love, Trust, and Respect. And finally, Father Pat Kibby, my former Confessor, who, when I came out to him, gave me the most amazing vision of God’s love and acceptance, opposite of what I had expected he would say. Further, he introduced me to his childhood friend Tony and Tony’s partner Jim, who then invited us to dinner at their home. They gave me hope that a long term relationship and a family life were possible for gay men. It’s been a week since I use this new “toy” haha. Well, recently I was diagnosed with severe Sleep Apnea. It really blindsided me, because people with Sleep Apnea usually have terrible mornings and lethargic day all day long. Some friends say that I was still the Energizer Bunny, even when I wasn’t a coffee drinker. Thanks to David @dbucky who nudged me into getting into the Sleep Study, whose finding astonished me. I had an average of 82 events per hour, which meant that within each hour of my sleep, I stopped breathing 82 times. I know that I woke up in the middle night gasping for air, but I thought it was once or twice a night; but no, 82 times/hour. Now I don’t wake up in the middle of the night. This APAP machine from @resmed has helped me tremendously.
