GAMING NEWS

We got the CG portion of Yukiyamore for like a week. So yeah. That’s over and done with. In terms of events still going on, we have a new collection event, A Kiss in the Rain, and a brand new spin-off, The Nobility.ANIME EXPOSo we have two more pieces of info for Solmare’s booth at Anime Expo. They announced they’ll be demo-ing their new RPG in the Moe! Ninja Girls series at AX, so I guess there’s hope to get some more content of the other Shall We Date? games.They also said they’ll have a little booth where you can take a picture with one of the characters from Obey Me!, so I’m guessing it’ll be like. A cardboard cut-out, kind of like the ones Bushiroad. I think it’s Bushiroad or Klab... always have for Love Live! But anyway, they did finish off this second post saying “Visit us at AX to see who shows up!” so I kinda wonder if they’ll have other cut-outs to take pictures with. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

FANDOM NEWS

In fandom news, @whevents is holding a telephone game right now with writers and artists! Sign-ups are closed, but the event is well under way with everyone participating working on their parts, so that’s something to look forward to.

CALL AND RESPONSE

So, I thought of this new segment, and I thought it over for 3 seconds and decided that it was a great idea, so we're just gonna go for it. Um, this is Call and Response. So basically, I will post a prompt, or like a question, or something, on Twitter or Tumblr, and ask you guys to respond to it and then I'll... go off-script and read the responses on the podcast and um... I really did not think this through and I did not realize what I was doing as you guys will find out 'cause I have re- like, I've read the responses so I know what you guys have said, um, I didn't think some of this was gonna happen, so... *laughing* I really... In hindsight, I really should have, considering... like, considering I'm friends with a lot of you guys so I really should've, you know, seen this coming, but I did not because I'm oblivious and I'm a fool and naive. And also I can't hold my microphone right right now. Anyway um... The initial post I made said "give me hilarious and overly specific wizardess heart-themed asmr ideas it’s for science i mean the podcast." 

So the first response I'm gonna read is from someone I considered a dear friend of mine, @nadia-the-wizardess, and this is someone who I love very much, and somebody I thought I could trust *laughing* and... she said, "Asmr idea? How about Sigurd slurping on them noodles." And... I don't like that.... I don't like that at all. I thought we were friends and I thought I could trust you, but clearly not. And clearly I couldn't trust other people like you because someone else said something spaghetti-themed *giggling* And anyway, this was a bad segment idea, we're never doing this again *laugh* No, we probably will, 'cause I'll be like, "Oh, this will be fine," and then alksjdfh you know, it falls apart.

So, somebody who decided to be normal and not make a fetish joke, put in... this is user @dandelionpaint on tumblr, "You are in the school's library at very busy hour. Every once in a while you can hear smack on the head, someone saying "ow" and different person saying "you cant do that"/"stop saying that"/"ugh"/"you are such a pain in the ass"" and honestly? I kin tha- I kin this. I kin that response. I would actually love to hear that, that would be pretty funny.

So the next response is from another person I considered a dear friend of mine who betrayed me so terribly. And *laughing* said... *inhale* God. This was the worst idea to start the segment off. So @sigurdcurtisholdsmegentle said, "You in the dining hall. Sigurd is there. You can hear him slurping his pasta. A never ending bowl of pasta. Just. Sluuuuuuurp." So many of my friends today have betrayed me. I have done nothing wrong ever in my life before, and it hurts *giggling* Okay.

Next response is from @swagmura, who says, um, "Klaus drinking tea with 47 sugar cubes" and then in the tags, "the spoon clinking against the cup as he stirs" and then "#god i love him" and I feel this and honestly I think I would actually listen to this, I'm not gonna lie. I don't like tea, but I'm like, that would be like, a soothing sound. Although the 47 sugar cubes is a little concerning, but I mean... eh, yolo, right?

Um, @theinvisiblefriend-blog suggested a few. And she said, "Randy eating candy. Unwrapping the candy. Chewing the candy. Vincent and Glenn sharpening their knives" ... sharpening their knives their BLADES  "before practicing swordfighting." I can't read even if something is right in front of me. Is anyone surprised at this point? And then the last one is, "Or Leslie cutting loose with some archery practice." Now that one would be super, like, therapeutic, and stuff. I would like that one.

Uh, @stephdaninja said, "Okay I got one:" and then she listed a few. Uh, "Sigurd pillow top-" ... *noises of mic sadness and exasperation* Oh my *laughing* UGH. GOD. NOT TOPPING. Uh, "Sigurd pillow talking with you about your day, Amelia brushing your hair, Elias reading a story for you, Alfonse taking care of you when you're sick in bed, and that's all I've got for now." See?! These are so good! Other friends of mine, these are so good! Although I have to admit, the Alfonse one makes me think of, um, that one ASMR that was going around a while ago and it was like, "16th century nun takes care of you" and then in parentheses, "(you have the plague)" like, I don't know, that kind of... that's kinda what it makes me feel like. Like, "Alfonse takes care of you in his free clinic" parentheses "(you have the Black Robe Plague)" like... I would listen to that, though. I would listen to that.

So yeah, that's the Call and Response segment. I'm never doing this again! *laughter* No. I'll do it again some other time. It won't be ASMR-themed, it'll be something else.

GAMING NEWS

God, I'm gonna sound like a fuckin' beauty blogger, but literally like, I'm sorry, I don't know if my mic's gonna pick it up, but... literally one of my neighbors is like... sawing right now? Um... Ugh. You would think living out in the country I wouldn't have to deal with this sort of thing, and yet here we are. Okay, so anyway, game news. We finally got Rex’s route, which released on Friday. *Beat* Yeah, that's it. *Laughs and there's rattling noises going on in the background*... ugh. I'm in a new recording space right now, so I'm like... Usually I move a lot while recording, and like, I'm just leaning on my desk and everything's like, making noise. Ugh. Okay, anyway. We haven’t gotten any new events besides Rex’s route. As I’m writing this script Tuesday morning, I’m just starting chapter 9 and I’m enjoying the ride for the most part. I dunno, it’s kinda complicated but I’ll talk about it whenever Rex is Darling of the Month, which he probs won’t be for a while since Amelia has June and I already have people planned for July and August.

ANIME EXPO

Solmare also gave another update on Anime Expo. They talked about having their booth full of promo materials for their new game, Obey Me!. It honestly sounds super interesting, but from how they’re talking and the booth concept art they released, it looks like the whole thing is gonna be geared for the new game. Which. I don’t know, I’m kinda mixed about. I’m looking forward to Obey Me!, but I hope they have more stuff for the older games and they’re just not saying it. If I recall, they didn’t really say they were gonna have those face cut-out things with the CGs, but that was a part of their booth. I’d say I’d hope those come back, but I’m like the least photogenic person ever so. Yeah idk. Not gonna lie, all this new stuff going on with Shall We Date makes me think I should just make a SWD blog or podcast or something. Probably just  a podcast, since I don’t care about the other games enough to keep a real-time news blog about them, but there’s definitely interesting things going on.

ROUTE REVIEW

Today we’ll be talking about the New Friends of Amelia spin-off since Amelia doesn’t have a route for me to review. Yet. Please Solmare let me date Amelia BLEASE.

Let me set the scene for you: it’s late June. I’ve been pulling several all nighters trying to get ready for Anime Expo. I’m ready to die because I’ve had to handsew almost all of my Sol Maiden!Liz cosplay and I just finished major fixes to my Persona 5 cosplay. My mom and I are leaving my grandparent’s house and heading back down to our house. I’m in our car, sitting in the backseat, planning to sleep on the drive so I can pull another all-nighter. I’m exhausted, but I always check the game at 6, so I decide to do it. And I’m surprised at getting a new spin-off. I’m also irritated because I’m in my car and I can’t exactly report on it. So I’m looking through, loving the new character designs, loving the aesthetic, loving the avatar items.

And honestly? It’s still one of my favorite spin-offs. I adore Scarlett and Augustus, I’m always down for Amelia getting more content, and of course, I love that it’s the beginning of Amelia’s love story. Both sides of the spin-off are great and honestly, those avatar items are still some of my favorites and ones I have my avatar wear often because they’re so pretty.

I honestly really regret not screen recording it, because I would love to reread it. Since I was in the car, I’m impatient, and I never have space on my phone, I didn’t screen record it and now I think the only people who I know have it are Ceragon Dubs. But yeah. It’s a favorite spin-off of mine and it’s just all around fantastic.

THEORY

So today’s theory is going to be a possible timeline for seasons 1-5. I’m not touching season 6 and on because. Hell no. But anyway, I’ve done some digging and thanks to in-game details, I have a solid timeline. Day 1 of the pre-Night Class seasons starts on February 18 and day 12 is February 29.

From several routes, we know by the time the MC starts classes, school’s already been going on for a while. Then in Luca’s route, one of the journal entries talks about the school uniform and ends it with saying, "The summer uniform is also incredibly cute, but I'll introduce that some other time!" That implies the uniform we always see on sprites is the winter uniform.

Now, schools with separate winter and summer uniforms usually switch to the summer one starting June 1st and wear them until September 30th, so we know this isn’t when any of the stories happen. So the time frame is October 1st to May 31st, when students wear winter uniforms.

And then Sigurd’s route tells us it’s a leap year and in a couple of days’ time, Sol Felia will happen. This is said to happen only on Leap Days, which is February 29th. So working back from that day, which in Sigurd’s route happens on Day 12,  that makes day 1 February 18th and the day of the happy ending March 1st.

GAMING NEWS

We got Gray’s headbow and poster room items. A new blue medal slot event called Stay With Me started a few days ago. And like. Okay, I don’t have a problem with smaller slot events per se, but I’m personally not really invested in this event like, at all. I’m not… *sigh* I’m not a fan of the line-up. You guys know my feelings about Rem as a love interest and I’m just not really into Vincent. I’m happy Guy’s getting content because he NEVER gets anything ever, but he’s not someone I’m gonna fight for. And I like Klaus, but it’s the same thing as Guy. He’s not someone that I’ll fight to get content for.

I also have to say that although I really hate Rem as a love option, I think it’s kinda bogus that his story is only available by spinning a certain amount of times. Normally that’s not something I’m too bothered by. In bigger slot events, I think it’s nice you get a guaranteed story after a while, but with an event so small it’s not really necessary in my opinion. 

FUTURE EVENTS/SPECULATION

So moving on a bit, Stay With Me is a super small slot event and the dev team is implementing a new feature. You have the option to spin once, which I’m now going to call solo yoloing since that’s what they call it in Love Live! School Idol Festival, or spin 5 times at once and you’ll earn a medal back. A few of the more recent games like Ninja Shadow and I think Lost Alice have a similar feature. For Ninja Shadow, you don’t have medals or anything, you actually use a certain amount of the premim in-game currency to play these gachas so they really have a solo yolo and then a discounted multi-spin. Like right now with the Hyakki Yagyou-themed slot, you can spin once for 15 jade (the fancy in-game currency) and then an option for 3 spins for 30 jade. 

I like the new feature, and it makes sense to debut in a small slot, but to be completely honest I don’t know how much I’ll actually use it. If they put it in gold medal slots, I’ll probs use it a lot, but for blue medal slots, I have no idea. I guess it depends if I love the aesthetic of the event and the line-up it has. But that’s just me. I try to spin as little as possible and spend as little as possible, so I generally never have enough medals at once to even do the multi-spin. I’m not gonna play the slot anymore, but who knows about the next one.

Okay like real talk, I’ve spent the last 30 minutes trying to think of a good way to introduce the call and response section. But I can’t think of anything and I’m not creative so for now I’m just gonna take something from Love Live. Kyou mo ichinichi, ganbaruby okay that’s enough of that *laughs* So today’s call and response is a bit different since I’m talking about the prompt now and next episode or the one after that we’ll be getting into the actual responses.

So my question/prompt to you guys is if you could rewrite someone’s in-game profile, what would it say? 

I’m excited but also a little scared for the answers I’m gonna get.
