SONG CHOICE: OPPA OPPA by SUPER JUNIOR D&E
feat. kim jongdae, a bright yellow sequined suit, and turkey sunglasses
he feels like he’s in his element---more than he does when he’s trying to pull off hard choreography, anyway. of course, there’s still choreography involved in this performance, but it’s less about getting the moves down to crisp and sharp perfection, and more about having fun with it, playing to his strengths in performance and stage presence to enhance the experience. so he doesn’t sweat getting every single movement right, and instead memorizes the basic movements so that he can put his own color and style into it. (he makes sure to put extra emphasis on the hip swivels.)
but the dancing isn’t the focal point of the performance anyway.
it is, of course, the bright yellow, shiny sequined suit he's chosen to wear, and the thanksgiving turkey sunglasses he chose to pair it with. with every move he makes on stage, his body shimmers, each sequin catching the light so that he literally shines on stage as he dances and raps and sings, but never once outshines the wide grin on his face.
it's easy to assume the persona of the song because he lives it, pretending as if he holds himself to the highest pedestal, unattainable, flawless. he's making eye contact with as many people in the audience as he can, pointing at people individually, holding eye contact during his hip-swaying with any of the close friends he spots (wes sunbae gives him a particularly uncomfortable grimace when he's singled out). he's a prime example of a man with an inflated ego, and he struts around the stage with pride, at one point losing interest in the choreographed movements to show off on his own.
as the song draws to a close, he finds his way to center stage, executing the choreography once more in sync with jongdae, flashing a satisfied grin at his partner for the day, knowing he couldn't have picked a better partner for it. he places his arm around his long time friend as they step out with each leg, hips circling, and in the last few seconds he jumps out in front, places his hands flat at his hips and slowly drags his arms up sensually, revealing the flipped sequin pattern of a heart underneath.
his ending pose is one of grandeur, hands raised up in the air after revealing the surprise underneath his sequins, eyes up to the ceiling, legs spread as far apart as he can muster without feeling like he's going to split right in half. finally, in a bout of unintended body humor, he loses his balance rather unceremoniously, nearly falling into a split before tumbling backward, his sunglasses flying right off as he falls to the ground in a laughing, crumpled heap.
