(context: hardware stores here are all gigantic and you can buy basically everything you'd ever need for building or renovating a house and the rooms are three stories tall)

We, too, have those giant hardware stores! I tend to get pretty sensory-overwhelmed in them, but it helps if I go with a buddy. I think the fact that I got taken along to a(n admittedly smaller local, but still) hardware store semi-regularly as a kid means I don't really get the same Wow, I'm So Small effect now, and the fact that two of my beloveds worked at big box hardware stores for some time has sadly demystified them for me—I have heard enough complaints about having to re-stack a whole pallet of lumber because whoever did it the first time did it wrong in a way where it wouldn't have been safe to lift with the pallet jack that when I look at Big Stuff Up There, that's the first thing I think of rather than "whoa…"
