i still deeply genuinely hope that somebody writes an hdg deconstruction. show me a human who simply *cannot* become a floret because theyre so deeply botanophobic that even the sound of leaves rustling sends them into flight or fight, emphasis on fight. show me a human who's so psychologically unique that, when offered the chance to become a pet, they hold themself at metaphorical gunpoint until the offer is rescinded. show me a paradise planet where the affini "generously donate" any humans that simply *cannot* become pets to live in a metaphorical zoo, where the only contact the humans ever have with the affini is when they're being dropped off and told to be good *for once* before the affini leaves them alone forever. show me a human so concisely arguing as to why maintaining a wild population of their discovered species is something *so important* that not allowing it would be tantamount to allowing *trillions* upon *nonocentillions* of future florets to die in poverty and pain due to overbreeding and genetic bottlenecking. show me an affini who cannot love their sophonts up close, so they *create* a paradise planet for creatures that *cannot* be domesticated so that they can watch them from afar and be contended with the knowledge that their menagerie is safe and secure and unthreatened by the affini compact at large.
show me the setting deconstructed. show me what happens when you turn the setting on its head. please. i beg of you. it would literally be so cool and interesting and i would read the fuck out of it and share it everywhere
