A sigh escaped the shieldmaiden's lips.  Wherever this place was, it definitely was not Broxton, nor was it New York.  Certainly, this place and New York had their similarities.  The same morose streets, the same dirtied alleyways and secretive inhabitants, but the same could be said about other cities, Sif supposed--and the only Midgardian cities she knew were Broxton, Oklahoma and New York.  But she could not fathom why her dearest brother Heimdall sent her here instead of her chosen destination.  It could not have been an accident.  Heimdall never made accidents.  He was annoyingly annoying like that.  Is he still raving on about that mess with Svip?  I didn't use the portal, did I?  I could have.  But no.  I did not. She gritted her teeth together  How tempted she had been. But he would not let her.  No.  He did not want her to leave.  She could have left.  She did not need his permission.  But she chose to stay.  She chose to.  "Thick-headed as always, aren't we, Heimdall...?" she hissed under her breath.  "I do not recall giving you any qualms when you forced me into dog-minding that helhound of yours a fortnight ago.  Send me to Broxton, or I'll--"
The goddess stopped short at a sound behind her--or had it been from above?  It was too late for second-guessing.  Was she being watched?  Sif turned within a heartbeat, unsheathing her blade, steel shining against the lamppost she was under.  She turned left, then right.  No sight of an enemy. Then, at the next slightest of sounds, she turned and this time, she looked up.  A male human dressed in black and blue sat high on a fire escape.
Above, she thought. Â It was from above. Â A moment passed before Sif finally sheathed her blade.
"I like a man in uniform," she greeted him. Â "Do you have any business with me?"
