Okay... so this might actually be perfect, because it allows me to delve in on some thoughts I’ve been keeping to myself about Jack.

While he tries to be ‘above’ such thoughts, Jack has gotten to a point where he’s seriously played on the edges of something like ‘revenge’; even if it isn’t completely of the definition. At some point during the past 300 years, he simply got tired. He got tired of being labeled as a bad guy, as ‘no good’ and ‘trouble’ no matter how hard he tried to prove otherwise. So, at some point he figured--- okay. You win. If I’m such a dangerous monster, then why not act like it?

Naturally in these times/in this state of mind, Jack causes a lot of destruction. I wouldn’t go so far to say that causing destruction was his ultimate goal, but he stops holding back. He doesn’t try to hurt himself to reign in particularly bad storms, and as a result he hurts more people than he ever would of wanted to, and many of these storms and incidents still haunt him. And while it had started after a few decades of loneliness and being alone, it never fully went away; deep inside him Jack still harbors resentment that sometimes manifests itself in fatal storms that are born out of an uglier emotion than he would of liked. The only difference between his more present incidents and his past ones is the intense shame and regret he feels immediately after.

The deadliest blizzard in history, in 1972 Iran, was caused by him in this sort of frame of mind, and when it was over, while he did feel bad after, there was a grim sort of indifference. These blatant acts of doing nothing to reign in his dangerous element and letting them wreck havoc is also a sort of revenge on the Man in The Moon, in a misguided way.
