Decided on the spur of the moment today to get myself out to Forest Hills, Queens, for the unveiling of an honorary street name for Walter Becker, on the block where he grew up. On hand were Jim Kerr of Q104.3 FM, City Council Member Karen Koslowitz, childhood friend and former WGAw president Howard Rodman, longtime Steely Dan backup singer Cindy Mizelle, and more. There were trivia giveaways too, including tour jackets and a couple of Walter’s own Hawaiian shirts. Other artists from a Forest Hills were invoked, like the Ramones, and Art Garfunkel.
