Twenty something years ago I worked at @armaniexchange. Always liked fashion but that stuff never really spoke to me. One day this guy walked in wearing a black pinstriped suit, black velvet shoes, and a black tie. The shoes and tie were adorned with gold Medusa’s. This guy had SWAG. I said to him, as he spent $1k+ on jeans (in the 90s!) who makes your clothes? He said “Of course, Gianni Versace!” At that moment I knew whoever he was, I wanted some of that lifestyle. Fast forward a few decades, that interaction has given me more inspiration than most, my wife and family, probably the largest and rarest collection of Versace home in the USA, and an honors degree (I wrote my honors thesis in art history comparing the works of Artemisia Gentileschi and Caravaggio to the designs of Gianni Versace). And I got married at his house! Twenty two years ago one of the true geniuses of the world was taken from us too soon. But he and his vision to this day remind me to not walk to the beat of our own drummer and to live life in excess! I thank you Maestro for a third decade of inspiration and for this life.
