            her breathing halts the second the lights flicker off . “ beth?? ” she asks in a whisper , as though within the milliseconds that the power has been off , her sister’s disappeared from the room . hannah’s completely aware she’s being silly -- that this is too much , just a continuous panic -- but that doesn’t stop her from reaching out with a cold hand , looking to find beth in the pitch dark . one option was to simply go to sleep . if they closed their eyes and went to bed , the electricity could be back on in the morning . but any hopes of sleep were dashed the second everything turned off at once . “ i ha -- i have candles on m -- my desk . i don’t kn -- know where my matches are th -- though . ”

                I LOVE YOU: three little words that hannah has never in her life once doubted when they came from her sister’s mouth . at least , not up until this point . it doesn’t last for long , there ARE a couple of seconds of { DO YOU TRULY BELIEVE SHE’D STILL LOVE YOU ?? } but for once , it’s an easily quelled thought . if she doesn’t have the love of her siblings , then what does she have ??                     ‘  i love you too ,  ’  she says , an easy grin taking a place on her lips, like NOTHING happened.                                  ( when is a monster not a monster ?? oh , when you love it . )

               “i don’t -- i don’t know how when the last year was a total nightmare.” and YOU were the monster.

but joshua didn’t deserve that. he ruined his friends. he can’t look at her. it’s alarming at how quick he is to dismiss this as another hallucination, he’s averting his eyes, palms pressing against his cheeks because it’s one of the few ways he can ground himself without the poorly prescribed medication. “ go away. ” he’s more daring with his moves, taking a step closer and gazing up at what he believes to be a product of his own mind. it’s not real. it’s not real. it’s not real. “ you’re not real. go. away. ” / @ripbeanie liked this !
