#rip mama

A few days ago I had to watch my mother die...

She suffered a massive brain hemorrhage in the morning, which left her no choice but to leave this world forever 7 hours later... without ever regaining consciousness 🖤😔...

What makes it even more tragic for me is, that we had an argument on the phone a little over a year ago and never spoke or saw each other again. And although I often (theoretically) told myself that I had come to terms with the idea that she might die one day and we would never speak again… when the moment comes, everything is completely different 😥. Our relationship was difficult at times, but overall, there was a lot of love. And I hope she knew that. I'm telling you all this because I want to encourage you to talk to your mother. If there's a chance for a relationship, don't wait and take the first step. Believe me, my situation is tearing me apart right now and I wish things had been different. That's not possible for me, but maybe it is for you...

As a tribute to her I asked @xylavie to draw her for my family. They did an absolutely stunning job.

I’ve been working on this short film since my mother’s passing in February after attending the first Fleur Film Festival just days after her passing. I felt so inspired and knew where I had to put my grief and energy into: art.

One of my aunties said it’s what I do. I make music, I write, I make art and that’s what I must continue doing for me, for my mama. This film is for my love of my mother and how incredible she was.
