#rip chief

All week there have been memorials and receptions in honor of my dear friend and mentor, Dr Ali Ghahramani. His loss has been a crushing blow to me, as I was on duty at work when he came in with a stroke last April. Over the last six months he has some struggles and finally succumbed to pneumonia. Along the way he suffered with phantom pain and seizures. He fought hard to live the whole time, his strength was honorable. Tonights reception was welcoming and comfortable. Instead of sharing tears, we shared memories. It was like a North Ridge Medical Center reunion. So many beautiful stories and experiences with Dr G were shared. What an amazing man he was and what an amazing family he gained over these years. So great to see everyone I have worked with over the last 18 years, I'm so relieved I wasn't a puddle on the floor. Thank you to my friend Dawn for being my funeral buddy again. RIP to the kindest man I have ever known, a dear friend that I will always hold close to my heart, goodnight Dr G.

....there won't be enough tissues for this evening. Two dresses in the back of my closet fit, one is too tight and the other shows too much cleavage.... Then I laughed and thought, Dr G will think they are both perfect.
