5 times Matt and Piper don't talk about their powers

- and the one time they do.

Piper has settled into her job at Nelson, Murdock and co. She likes her job, she likes her co-workers, she likes her life. As odd things happen around them, neither Matt nor Piper are eager to start a conversation about it. After all, whoever starts demanding answers will have to deal with having questions turned on themselves.

You know how this format works.

I wrote another fic 🥳 (or at least the first chapter of it)

the Romans weren’t neurotypical, (or at least had some sort or disability like the Greeks do) or

There was some sort of misunderstanding between the ADHD Greeks and the neurotypical Romans.

ADHD comes with a lot of communication challenges with neurotypical people (and vice versa) and I really wish that had been explored more in the books.

Canon new rome and the new rome I have in my head are very different. Though mine is mostly more disability friendly, LGBTQIA+ friendly, and less cult-like.

Military service isn’t required if you’re a legacy, though it’s highly encouraged if you can serve. If you’re new you have to serve to get citizenship, though that doesn’t apply if the person is disabled in a way that they couldn’t, or would have a lot of trouble with medical issues from it. Then they’d just automatically get citizenship. 

The Romans have dyscalculia the same way the Greeks have dyslexia. 

The Romans also tend to be autistic the same way the Greeks tend to have ADHD, though it’s not quite as common.

They have high school, and all math courses are optional if you have dyscalculia. All english classes are optional if you have dyslexia, though they might make you do a class in greek. 

They don’t really use currency for a few reasons:

New recruits don’t have money, and that’s a good chunk of the population.

They don’t like the idea of having rich or poor people.

They don’t want people to be able to be corrupted with money.

They are a self-sufficient community, and most people only work because they want to and need something to do. Because of this there’s a lot of really niche hobby shops everywhere, and the people who run them love geeking out over things. 

Everyone gets a place to live once they are 18 or finish their military service (if they’re older than 18 when they finish, which most people are) that they like and fits any/all accessibility needs that person may have. Though it has to be within reason.

Though some positions come with special/ specific living quarters:

There are two praetor houses. When you are elected/ promoted to praetor you move into the praetor house that the previous praetor was living in. (most praetors go to college once their military service is up).

The head doctor lives right by the hospital, or at least has an apartment there.

None of the ranks are paid (since they don’t really use currency) but the prestige, and it looks good on your application plus overall popularity more than make up for it to most people. It’s an honor to be a centurion or praetor and people take it quite seriously, and as a complement.

They have free health care. They literally have children of the god of medicine there, and have no shortage of doctors, pharmacists on the other hand, (because of the reliance on numbers) is a role commonly only for Greek demigods since no one wants to mess up the dose on medication. All medicine labels are in Greek. Though instructions typically have a translation in latin as well.

Speaking several languages is not only common, but expected of people (at least in the city, the military is mostly just English with some Latin). It’s so common for people to use random words from any language that they know in conversation that it’s called ‘broken latin’, since there’s usually quite a bit of latin mixed in there. They also have their own sign language, and most people can finger spell in both ‘New Rome Sign Language’ as it’s called and ASL too. There’s also a Greek letter alphabet in New Rome Sign Language. (I don’t really know much about sign language, so sorry if any of this is wrong).

There’s a program set up with a few universities and colleges so that new rome citizens can take courses from there for free (the city pays money with gold, and other investments but the people don’t have to pay for it themselves), and get diplomas from there too. There’s also a few programs where children of a god of medicine with natural talent learn the information they might not know, and take a bunch of tests from the mortal university to get medical degrees. This is mostly made so that they don’t get bored of their classes since they already know everything and miss something they might not know. While them not knowing something is rare, it’s still checked and if they miss anything they have to take an entire course on the subject, as well as take another test about it. (can you tell I put a lot of thought into this lol)

This is all I have for now, but I might write more later. This is getting pretty long (over 1 and a half pages on a google doc).

LEGO PJO Project: Frank Zhang (Books, Mid-transformation)!

Did you guys guess it? Minifigure #25 is Frank Zhang midway transforming into his grizzly bear form! This is the second variant of Frank I've made in LEGO form so far. The first variant can be found HERE if you're interested!

I like both variants, but I personally find this one much cooler!

Is he a Yemeni ambassador and Kel is tasked with escorting him somewhere? Does he show up at New Hope with a bunch of refugees he protected? Is he a guard sent for princess Shinkakomi? Does he breed horses with Hazel and Kel needs a replacement for Peachblossom? So many possibilities!
