The flag of the Cosmopolitan Empire is pink and purple, with a C-like emblem at its left. Pink symbolises the Cospolins' love of art and their location in the Galaxy (western sides), purple symbolises their capability as a spacefaring civilisation, and the emblem represents independence and freedom.
In the 31st century, several local colonies along the western side of the Milky Way revolted against the restrictive rule of the Earth Union. These rebels were led by a faction of artists and dissidents who sought to build a society dedicated to art and freedom, based on the university-world of Ikhaya. Attracted by their greater liberties, hundreds of surrounding star systems joined the Cospolin state, which became a federation.
Cospolin society practiced a culture that was a blend of African, Indian, and Hispanic influences. Its brown folk are enthusiasts of art and creativity, and are known for their splendid meat cuisine and their colourful hair: some Cospolins even altered their genes so that they and their children could be able to grow colourful hair!
After centuries of fending off the other empires, the later rulers of the Cosmopolitan Empire led their armies in their own campaign of galactic conquest. As they were waging war on the demon-worshipping hordes of the Ninth Reich, one leader prohibited the usage of the futhark alphabet for its associations with the Ninth Reich, triggering its eastern colonies to seceded in the Thorn Revolt (þ).
The Cosmopolitans also sent fleets to defend Earth when the Sol System was besieged by the Farsiders, who sought to destroy the planet Earth to punish the Earth Union and the planet's inhabitants for various historical crimes committed by their ancestors.
In the northwestern edge of the Galaxy, a hedonistic colony collapsed and became the central database of the Galaxials, a horde of cybernetic drones that sought to conquer the whole Galaxy for their supercomputer.
