Newlyweds Ringo and Maureen interviewed by the press during their honeymoon, 12 Feburary 1965.
Int: Does this mean in effect you really had to ask Mr Epstein’s permission to get married?
Ringo: Not really his permission, it was nice that he agreed as well, that it was okay, you know. I would’ve hated the thought of saying ‘Can we get married, Brian?’ and Brian said, ‘No, it’s terrible, you can’t’ and that, and we still would, you know. It was nice, him liking it too. He’s a good lad, you know. Very understanding.
Brian Epstein wanted The Beatles' separate holidays to be "gloriously private," and had gone to great lengths to ensure that Ringo, Paul, George, and John would be able to unwind in anonymity. He hired a private company to create a "fool-proof seret route" for both parties to arrive at their destinations, and each Beatle and his girlfriend (or wife, in Cynthia's case) was given a code name: Paul was "Mr. Manning," Ringo was "Mr Stone", Jane was "Miss Ashcroft," and Maureen was "Miss Cockroft". John was "Mr. Leslie" and Cynthia was "Mrs Leslie," while George and Pattie became "Mr. Hargreaves" and "Miss Bond," respectively. Two of the Beatles were given the other two's passports by mistake, but customs officials didn't seem to care, since one Beatle was the same as the other in their eyes. It was becoming that insane.

Maureen hated flies but she married a bug? So what is the truth?
Some bugs are okay 😌
Ringo spent ample time doting on his family. “Nothing made him happier than sitting at the kitchen table, eating Corn Flakes, with Maureen and Zak,” says Ken Partridge, who helped design Sunny Heights (which included a private club over the garage, complete with a mirrored bar, pool table, jukebox, and, reverently, a portrait of John and Paul). Otherwise, Ringo had developed a passion for fine photography, thanks to a fancy Nikon and an above-average eye, and wasted no opportunity to record “all the important events in his [son’s] life.”

When Zak was born, I really wanted to call him "XL". I thought names were boring for people. Letters would be much better, but Maureen refused. So we agreed on a short name that couldn't be abbreviated. It was the old cowboy in me, calling him Zak.
