Today I cycled through a nature reserve in Hamburg and met a birdwatcher intently peering through his binoculars. I ventured to ask what had caught his attention. He pointed to a dark bird, about the size of a blackbird, in the meadow: a Ring Ouzel! These birds are native to the mountains and can only be seen in our lowlands during migration.
