cultural studies
(at least how it is at my uni)
there are 5 different fields
cultural studies (this one is mandatory)
cultural history (choice)
literary studies (choice)
linguistics (choice)
social science (choice)
you have to pick two of the choices so you can build your curriculum
the major doesn’t focus on any specific cultures (although certain classes might) but rather on the phenomenon “culture” how they develope and define themselves and how we define them, how different cultures look at each other and how they interact
the two fields you choose impact which areas you focus on (obviously) but you can take classes in all fields if you want, you just need to visit a certain amount of classes to graduate i can break down my requirements some other time if somebody would be interested in that
@rylie-studies mentioned in the tags of my introduction post #pls tell me all about cultural studies bcs i am in love with cultures so i thought i could make a lil post about what cultural studies is like at my uni just as a little summarization
October Study Challenge #3
I’m a little plain when it comes to a favorite drink. It’s just black tea, a splash of milk, and a little honey. It’s been what I’ve been drinking while I’ve studied since high school, and it’s more for comfort than caffeine. I’ve been through coffee, energy drinks, soda, and more but, tea is always what I return to.
Right now, I’m enjoying a little reading to calm down before I head off to Vienna tomorrow morning. In the next few days, I will be in Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Hungary. Hopefully, I come back a little less restless and a little more inspired.
Currently Reading: The Testaments by Marget Atwood.
Day 26 of 100 Days of Productivity
I started my classes today, and treated myself to a good book and a cookie at the cafe where Kafka used to come to write. Suddenly, I’m very aware of how little time I have left in College.
October Study Challenge Day #2
My Playlist for Autumn is mainly instrumentals, perfect for background noise whileI work on papers and readings in coffee shops. I love that the wind is starting to sharpen, and the mornings are gray. It’s cozy and makes Prague feel a little more like home.

Study playlists
@riley-studies September challenge - Day 16 When I study I don't always listen to music. If I see I can stay concentrated and it's quiet around my workspace, I usually get more work done in silence. If the space is noisy, or my concentration is not in tip top shape, however, music or ambience work wonders. As far as ambience goes, I usually stick to the Harry Potter-themed tracks on ambient-mixer (especially the Ravenclaw common room one). As for music, I found that my favourites are videogame soundtracks, like The Witcher III, Skyrim and similar. They are epic and fantasy, but at the same time they are soundtrack-ey enough to let me concentrate on my studies. Sometimes movie soundtracks work as well, but it depends a lot on the movie. What does the job for you, as far as study playlists are concerned?
I’m baaaack! I haven’t posted in a while! I started my AP classes and my internship so things have been kinda hectic!

Well, here we go!!!
Day 13: What is your least favorite subject and why?
My least favorite subject is history. I like very interactive classes and all the history classes I have taken are very monotonous.
Tell me yours! Love,
Emilia xoxo
September studyblr challenge - day 5
I'll be posting today's pic for @riley-studies's challenge sometime tomorrow, as I have my Infectious diseases exam, so I kinda don't want to lose time describing all the stuff I have in my bag/pencil case right now... Till tomorrow then!
