       “please,” he whispered, still desperately pleading. ed still had a pulse, oswald knew that. he had checked that first, but it didn’t ease his concern. he needed the other to wake up. 

      that was ALMOST enough to bring a laugh forth. those icy blue orbs of his had been cold for quite some time now. “don’t tell me you’re just noticing that now, ed. wouldn’t be very PERCEPTIVE of you.” his tone is teasing, though there is an undertone of hesitance to it as well. it’s difficult when you’re not aware of just exactly where you stand with somebody, especially after what had been done. did oswald REGRET it?? no. he had done it for the right reasons. “i’m sure there’s a long list of things that could have made such a thing happen. it’s hardly important.”

         it is an UNUSUAL thing for him not to carry an umbrella. he had yet to find another that would serve many of his purposes. it wasn’t the rain that bothered him. oswald was perfectly fine with his suit getting wet and his hair losing its normal volume. none of that was a CONCERN for him. the statement brings the slightest of smirks to his lips. perhaps just a week ago, he would have been HORRIFIED by the words. he had been a good person. a person that wouldn’t hurt a living soul. the mental torture had worked for a long while. but even hugo strange could not have predicted the events that had led him to become THE PENGUIN once again. seeing ed now, after he had visited him when it had all began, was a small wound. a person that he had called friend abandoning him because he had been someone different. “unfortunately i could not have predicted this,” he responded lightly. “however, i hardly regret what was done.” oswald followed after the taller male, limping along to the alley in hope of cover. “i must admit, i’m surprised you’ve decided to GRACE me with your presence,” he remarked. his tone was guarded as he spoke. no reason to let ed know how hurt he had actually been by it all.
