Graham had woken first, Emma still sleeping comfortably beside him. There had been no intimacy, just tiredness taking over the both of them as they worked on a case together. Still, he cared for her deeply and even if she had built a wall to keep people like him out he’d break it down somehow. Running his fingers through his hair lazily, he looked back at the sleeping figure
Still in a haze, Graham leaned over and pressed a soft yet scruffy kiss to her forehead. Lingering for a moment, the man pulled back and gave the blonde one more look before heading out of the room.
It wasn’t normal for Emma to let her guard down and crash out. Sure, as a kid she’d gotten used to finding sleep in any place she could but into her adult life, and a trip to prison, she’d learned to be on guard while she rested.
So it was by some great chance that she didn’t instantly wake up or become alert when the body beside her own began to move. Instead she softly sighed, nuzzling a bit further into the blanket she’d had placed on her as she felt the gentle touch in her hair. His long kiss against her forehead was sweet, a gesture she’d seen a million times in film but never once experienced as her body filled with a sense of longing for such an act.
