For the AU…Buck and Tommy first meet when they are on a sequestered jury together
(Maybe Tommy has just broken up with Abby and transferred to Harbor and Buck has only been with the 118 for a short time) <- only a suggestion
I love the idea of the sorta forced proximity, but also imagining all the 118 drama Buck could miss while he’s away for weeks
Hi, @sad-girl-hours23! Ooh, I like this! I think the timeline works too. Okay, so:
1. Picture it—Los Angeles, hand-wavy timeline—a very well-publicized arson case has just gone to trial and the presiding juror, Tommy Kinard, is taking his role very seriously. He believes in the process and also believes that if they approach this calmly and professionally, the process shouldn't need to last more than a week.
Second alternate juror, Evan "Buck" Buckley, is also taking his role seriously and he's pretty sure they've got the wrong guy.
2. Tommy's going to kill this guy. Two of their jurors had to bow out so now this guy—this kid is on the jury and he's asking. So. Many. Questions. He gets going and his eyes light up and he's so frigging earnest that it's incredibly annoying and Tommy kind of wants to kiss him about it.
He's also asking really good questions which is even more annoying.
3. Buck Evan has a hunch about what might have actually happened with this case and Tommy thinks it's a pretty good hunch, but they have no way to prove it and they really don't think they can take a hunch back to the judge. The court is pretty much just looking for a yay or nay from them, not a 'well, actually...'
Luckily, Tommy has a Guy™️and Evan gets kind of adorably bent out of shape about that and declares he also has a Guy™️so they both do some sneaky shenanigans to get contact with the outside world and call on their respective Guys.
4. Chim and Hen IMMEDIATELY compare notes and start working together after getting super stealth calls from supposedly sequestered jury members Tommy and Buck.
Bobby gets wind of things which means Athena gets involved and soon the 118 and Sergeant Grant are running around L.A. after the actual culprit and feeding info to Buck and Tommy at the same time.
5. In a wild courtroom moment that's going to live rent free in Buck's brain FOREVER, they manage to clear the wrongfully accused and hand over the evidence to nail the guy who actually did it...and are banned from jury duty for the foreseeable future.
Working with Tommy was pretty cool though and Buck hopes they can keep in touch after all of this. He makes sure they exchange numbers, just in case anything else comes up...or whatever.
Tommy texts him approximate thirty-four minutes after he gets home to ask what he's doing Saturday.
