Rainbow is far more aware of how much each Gem is their own Unique Individual with their own Unique Lives then Pink ever knew until long after she became Rose Quartz. She is a former Human with a Diamond's Body trying to think like a Gem with her Human oriented mind.

Pink throw tantrums and fits to get her way like the spoiled Imperial Princess she was. She screamed, cried, and raged first for attention then over the unfairness of her treatment. But she never bothered to sit down with the other Diamonds and calmly explain WHY she did the things she did, and when she DID try communicating clearly for the first time the others shut her down. So Pink gave up trying to reason with them and fully committed to the Rebellion rather then finding another way.

Rainbow, on the other hand, already knows from the beginning how important Clear Communication and Boundaries is in a health relationship of any kind. She seems so mature to everyone else she meets because they all expected her to be Pink Diamond 2.0, whether they had met Pink personally or had only heard the stories, EVERYONE and their Kindergartener knows about Pink's legendary bratty temper. Rainbow speaks her mind relatively freely like Pink used too, but she also explains WHY she thinks that way to the best of her ability the majority of the time. It's one of the main character traits that set Rainbow and Pink apart.

Rainbow would absolutely have been better off on Homestead if the AU existed in the same Universe though. She shares far more of her values with Iridescent and Firework Diamond then she does with the Canon Diamonds and even Steven.

The Diamonds in my AU are made from an extremely rare type of Star called Diamond Stars by the Empire. Diamonds typically incubate for millions- sometimes billions of years! They're basically living Goddesses after all, with the power to match.

Homeworld's Solar System originally had 6 Stars and 20 planets. Diamond Stars pull in and consume Astral Bodies near them before attempting to go Supernova, and if the Diamond's incubation is successful the Diamond with consume the Star whole just before it turns into a Black Hole and emerge.

White consumed 3 planets, an asteroid belt, and 3 dwarf planets. Yellow consumed 2 planets and 1 dwarf planet. Blue consumed 1 planet and 2 dwarf planets. While Pink consumed 3 planets, the systems second asteroid belt, and 4 dwarf planets.

Rainbow, by comparison, consumed 18 planets, 2 asteroid belts, and 9 dwarf planets because she had an entire single Star Solar System to herself that wasn't competing with the gravitational pull of other Stars like in Homeworld's Solar System.

Rainbow basically has the power of 6 Diamonds and would be significantly taller then White had she not been intentionally made to be Pink Diamond's height.

White Diamond emerged first 6 billion years ago. Yellow Diamond and Blue Diamond come next around 4.5 billion years ago with Yellow being a few million years older then Blue. While Pink Diamond emerged 3 billion years ago.

Rainbow, on the other hand, only incubated for about 1,500 years. Because her Gem was already formed and superchargered with energy by Pink, Rainbow just needed to be put back together and be given a soul, mind, emotions, and physical form.

But she likes the aesthetic and sometimes she will walk around in it on Homestead

White diamond but somehow worse

She would recommend a kimono or another full body covering robe until she can be trusted to make her own outfits

White designed most of Rainbow's Form actually. She wanted Pink to emerge Perfectly, to look like a Leader and not a Child or Clown as she had before. And Obviously White's definition of Perfection is Herself, so she modeled "Pink's" new form after herself.

White designed her to have a brilliant short cape down to her knees in the same style as White's (but obviously pink), Pink's old gloves, normal short sleeves instead of her old shoulder pads, simmering pink tights, and glittering sandals to go along with her leotard and glimmering skirt. But Rainbow's Gem didn't like that so it scraped them. Pink Diamond personally made that Gem after all and Pink hated anything to do with White Diamond.

But honestly, I dig it

Also, is her story really that she a replacement for pink

Because I feel like our diamonds would immediately just jump in and take her to their Homestead

And raise her proper 

Rainbow Diamond was made in the core of a White Star from the Harvested Shards of Pink Diamond. Rainbow is technically a White Diamond with more natural Brilliance and "fire" then White.
