Ricky 6 (Peter Filardi, 2000)
I felt the whole while that this could be my The Craft and lo behold look who wrote that movie. The energy of eternally high satanic youth en route to its vanishing point. Tonally and aesthetically so perfectly of its era and for its subject matter, every line of dialogue sounds like a sample between grindcore songs, yet still slightly conservative and bound to the tabloid outsider viewpoint around these transpirings. Slightly. It does make effort. But clearly made by people who would never murder their friend in the woods while high on acid. The Jim Van Bebber version is better, naturally.
Damn, what the hell happened between 1 and 6?
watching ricky 6
OMFG, when Ricky comes out of the cell and all the news people are there: "Were small animals sacrificed?"
That's so weirdly specific. I love it.

Still has the counter at the bottom.
So, Ricky 6 is the hardest movie in the world to find in high definition and the slightly-better defintion I found has a counter on screen, so now there's a Post It note on my screen.
First sign of the apocalyse:
Vincent Kartheiser plays a nice, sane, emotionally healthy protagonist with no father issues, who at no point has sex with anyone on camera.
