Sad to see the passing of another music pioneer: The great Rick Hall who has passed away aged 85. While on assignment for J.Crew in 2011 photographing Billy Reid in Florence, Alabama we took a trip to nearby Muscle Shoals and talked our way into Rick’s office for a chat and impromptu photo session.

@Bishopgunnmusic headed down to the recently-reopened Fame Studios in #MuscleShoals, looking to record “Alabama” in one of the state’s most famous rooms. The bandmates were still in the van when they received a phone call telling them that #RickHall, the studio’s owner for more than 50 years, had passed away.
