Rick Santorum through the years
Rick Santorum, 57, is making his second race for the Republican presidential nomination, after finishing second (in total primary votes won) to Mitt Romney in 2012. An outspoken social conservative, Santorum was elected to the Senate in 1994, and after winning reelection in 2000 served as chairman of the Senate Republican Conference. He lost his bid for a third term in 2006, and since then has worked as a political consultant and commentator. Here's a look back.
