This vegan bacon made from rice paper is a crispy and flavorful alternative to traditional bacon. It's quick to make and perfect for adding a smoky, savory crunch to your favorite dishes.
Ingredients: 6 sheets of rice paper. 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. 1 tablespoon of maple syrup. 1 teaspoon of liquid smoke. 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika. 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder. 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder. 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil for brushing.
Instructions: Set the oven temperature to 175C 350F. To make the marinade, combine the soy sauce, maple syrup, liquid smoke, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper in a bowl. One rice paper sheet at a time, rapidly soften it by dipping it into a bowl of warm water. Make sure you only soak it for a few secondsdon't soak it for too long. Spoon both sides of the softened rice paper with the marinade mixture after laying it flat on a clean surface. Continue until you have 6 rice paper sheets. To make a stack, place the marinated rice paper sheets on top of one another. Slice the stack into pieces the thickness of bacon strips with a sharp knife or kitchen scissors. Make sure the rice paper bacon strips do not overlap when you place them on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. For added crispiness, lightly brush the strips with vegetable oil. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the vegan bacon is crispy and beginning to turn golden, in a preheated oven. Before serving, take them out of the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes. Savor your homemade rice paper bacon that is vegan! It's ideal as a crunchy snack or added to salads and sandwiches.
