I am frankly surprised at how uneducated it seems much of tumblr is regarding nonmonogamy. From what Iāve seen, most folks are either prejudiced against it or believe that it strictly means that everyone involved is dating each other. Did yall know that there are many different styles of ethical nonmonogamy, and polyamory is just one of them? Moreover, did you know that not all polyamorous folks are in closed relationships? Not all poly folks are even close friends with their metamours! Relationship anarchy is also a thing, and given tumblrās tendency towards the off-beat Iām surprised itās not more spoken about on this site lol.
A huge part of deconstructing mononormativity for me was realizing that thereās no one specific way that a relationship or set of interconnected relationships has to look. I wonāt pretend that ENM is for everyone because itās not! But there are so many different flavors and itās silly/sad to see people trying to force themselves into boxes when the entire point of ENM, in my opinion, is to break all the fucking boxes.

Intersectionality is a framework of understanding and discussing how different forms of oppression play out when they intersect. Itās important to acknowledge how various aspects of someoneās identity can simultaneously influence how they are treated and the discrimination they experience.
Intersectionality is NOT mathematics. It is not some equation that goes like, āIām a gay person of color: 1 Homophobia + 1 Racism = 2 Oppression Pointsā. It also doesnāt go like, āIām a transgender man: 1 Transphobia - 1 Misogyny = 0 Oppression Pointsā.
Not only are those mathematics flawed since most if not all trans men experience/d misogyny, theyāre flawed because thatās not how oppression works. There are no points. There is no equation. And IMO, entering any shared queer space and announcing that āThey/I/We have it worse than you!ā Is a shitty fucking way to build a community.
(Also, if youāre going to make a discourse post and add a bunch of tags so it gets seen, donāt just delete it when people start disagreeing with you. On Facebook they call that ādirty deletingā and itās generally frowned upon, because all the labor that just went into responding to your post is now wiped from the internet.)

As an ADHDer who is has been flip flopping for years on whether I think Iām also autistic (currently no): Itās kind of wild how by normalizing being autistic (a good thing) we have inadvertantly pathologized* a lot of potentially neurotypical feelings and behaviors.
Like, having a preference for something that doesnāt really matter doesnāt make someone autistic. Having a STRONG preference doesnāt even make someone autistic. Simply being particular about things isnāt āa pattern of rigidityā. People are allowed toā¦ checks notesā¦ want things.
The larger point I want to make is that wanting things isnāt bad. Having strong preferences about āunimportantā things isnāt wrong and we donāt need to label people as autistic in order to excuse them of their ācrimesā of wanting things.
*Btw when I refer to neurotypical traits being āpathologizedā I donāt mean this to say that I believe autism is a disease; Iām referring to the way that we treat normal personality traits that anyone can have like theyāre symptoms that must be explained by a label and/or treated. Maybe a better word is āclinicalizedā. IDK.
