me: wow I'm almost done with this scene
also me after realizing how I can make another variation of a variation of a variation work: wow I'm so not done with this scene
what are some story tropes that you would want to write in the future? π
I love getting such questions because my brain stops working and I forget any tropes/themes I've ever thought of writing π it's such a wonderful thing!!! (just to be clear, I'm not blaming you, just joking about myself)
Anyway, on a serious note, I'll use this moment to mention some stuff from my next interactive story. I've been wanting to talk about it for a while, but I also kind of feel awkward mentioning it since no one cares about it except for me and it's a long way from being released (which will happen only after I'm done with TAS). But this is also relevant to your question, so I'll just shamelessly take this opportunity π thank you for giving me one!
I don't know many "proper" trope names, so I'll write it out plainly.
A love story at its core (I love romance, can't you tell?). This one is more about established relationships (friends / kinda rivals / almost friends) to lovers rather than strangers to [something] to lovers.
The MC is a genius (for a fucked up reason) magi with a Surprise. Dark, tortured past. Morally ambiguous (maybe pure evil for some, idk; definitely unhinged). The coolest guy (gender-neutral) on the block. Looks and acts like this π and inside is actually like this π₯ΊπΆ
Eldritch gods (kind of; it's complicated).
Found family (2x). This one will be different from TAS; you'll interact with the entire cast throughout the story and not choose just one route to romance/befriend in one playthrough.
A very strong platonic relationship with a best friend; they might (and, in fact, do) crazy (read "forbidden and reprehensible") shit for each other that could kill one of them or both of them and everyone around them and they know it.
Magic exists, but it's hidden from humans.
Magical elitism? π€ Most magi consider themselves "better" than humans (which leads to them being rather indifferent to mortals; they have no qualms about using/manipulating/killing humans).
A big bad cult (I'm sure this is a trope).
Fighting a god (this is definitely a trope).
Revenge (not just for the MC; now that I think about it, everyone wants to take revenge on someone π).
Second chances (in more ways than one).
Some other things that I won't mention because it's going into the "unnecessary details/too spoilery" territory.
Btw, the setting is modern + magic, but it's not the real (our) world. It's my own playground, and I mostly focus on its magical part.
I don't know how I'll write it, but I have a very specific idea for a scene with racing for fun, and I know I'll bend over backwards to include it π€‘
The story after that one is pretty much a high fantasy revenge story with manipulations and lies and some church stuff and true/false saints and doomed lovers and being a savior for your family and a villain for everyone else, but it's far far far in the future, so I'll just leave it at that for now.

What was your first favorite book?
Captain Blood by Rafael Sabatini. As a kid, I really liked pirate and adventure stories, lol!
For IF, it was Scout. I still mourn it to this day π
2. What is your current favorite book?
It's hard to choose one... so I'm just going to make a list because no one can stop me. My IFs recs are there and there.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin (duh)
Ballad of Sword and Wine by Tang Jiu Qing
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
A Song of Ice and Fire by George Martin
Dracula by Bram Stoker
Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
Violet Evergarden by Kana Akatsuki
Heaven Official's Blessing by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu
3. What genre is your favorite, reading or writing?
Low/high fantasy and romance for reading and writing. Detective and historical for reading.
4. Favorite trope?
Found family (the kind that kills for each other, none of that tepid nonsense where they're more like colleagues).
5. If you could, what world building or story would you love to have written yourself?
I really like the plot + lore and how it's delivered in Where Winds Meet (game), and I've been gnawing at my walls for a while now wishing I could plot something as intricate. That's why I'm still intensely marinating the plot of my next project.
6. Your favorite line (or three) that you've written?
I really have no idea. I might like something at one moment, but I'd forget about it soon enough, so I have nothing to put here πβοΈ
7. Favorite medium to experience a story? (Book, IF, video game, movie, etc)
Books, games, VNs, and IF. I've loved reading since I was a kid, and I've played VNs since I was ~12 (mostly Japanese, even untranslated ones, lol) and still play a lot of them. I barely watch movies because ADHD (you know if you know).
8. Favorite character versus your favorite character to write: who would win?
In a fight to death? Selene would win, naturally.
9. What story keeps inspiring you to keep writing?
No such thing. I just love writing. I've been doing it for so long, even through my worst years, that I don't know how to live without it anymore. It sounds β¨extraβ¨, but it is an integral part of my life. I don't need inspiration for it.
10. Random fun fact about you, your writing, your interests
I've recently decided to get back into drawing. I actually drew a lot as a kid before I started writing. But I'll keep it as a light hobby; for the sake of my nerves, I shouldn't have another hobby that I'm insane about, lol.
I don't remember who I've seen being tagged... If any of you have already been tagged or don't want to answer, then don't mind me! @theabyssal, @thelostbride-if, @lyraeluxstudios, @costasul-if, @smallfires-if, @thebonewitch-if, @nyotani-if

I like my first runs of ifs to be me put in the shoes of the MC. So how'd I react in the given situation. Typically it characterizes my MC and mellow, impatient, kind, and passive. The same for this if. But on Laz's route it doesn't matter if youre sweet bby angel youre just gonna be a chaotic rabid menace and honestly that fits my personality more.
Haha yeah, the Oracle isn't a blank character, they have a semi-set personality regardless of your route. I'm glad you're enjoying it anyway! π I know this isn't for everyone.
I wish people stopped acting like a blank MC is the default and correct MC for an interactive story. I had people (not you, anon) write to me like this is some sort of mistake, as if I haven't been writing the Oracle like that for several hundred thousand words. I wish I didn't try to make the MC palatable from the beginning and just made them as unhinged as I wanted, lol...
Please don't spam the same ask over and over again in my askbox ππ I'll get to the asks eventually.
Answering them takes energy and writing juices, most of which I spend on writing the base game, so I rarely answer asks there days & it takes me a long time. Sorry about that π₯Ί
I usually would have done that without hesitation but TAS is different from my usual stories
So do you have other stories too?? Because I would love to read them (even if the characters are gonna die π), you're one of my faves
Aw, thank you for your interest!! π All my previous stories are shelved, and I won't be returning to them; they are old and unfinished, so there's nothing I'd like to show. But I'm slowly planning out my next IF, so after TAS is done, I'll publish something new :)
