I went to Pride for the first time the other day and had a really good time. I’m in the closet though so had to go out in regular clothes and got changed at the mall nearby. I was dreading it, honestly. I had no idea what to expect so I expected the worst. Covert or overt hostility, nasty looks at best. But instead no one batted an eye at me being there. And when I came out of a stall in my skirt and very girly shirt (i’m not on hrt and don’t pass), I was still expecting a lot of flack. But this girl was so excited! She said something like “I’m so glad you get to do this!” and I was so stunned by how nice and legitimately enthusiastic she was that I don’t think I said thank you or acknowledged her. But it was one of the highlights of Pride and I wish I could tell her how much that meant to me.
