Today's repost is from the Netherlands, where the city of Amsterdam for decades have been looking for places to handle the overflowing population. Almere and Lelystad are two settlements outside Amsterdam which have been built on reclaimed land, but turned the city into one conurbation. However, in the 1997 the construction of a totally new archipelago with 10 islands, Ijburg, started right west of Amsterdam. Today, such development is something that is becoming more and more common despite the environmental issues. .
