Night of the Pineau 🇫🇷 I made Midsummer eve dinner paired with three different Pineau des Charentes wine. Dinner started with White Reynac and Sea scallops in salad bed. Next course was Old Reynac and grilled mushrooms with bacon belt and cream cheese filling with crispy slaw mojo rojo salad. After main course was time to open Extra Old Reynac. Taste was amazing with cheese platter. Manchego, Camembert and Vintage Cheddar cheese was served with grape and fig jams. Reynac Pineau des Charentes 🍇 These beautiful French products is under my tasting and I will share some writings about them in this week. “Pineau des Charentes Reynac is a fortified wine made from grapes harvested by members of our cooperative wineries and some other wineries carefully selected by us. Some of these contributions has been previously converted into brandy previous years before entering the pineau making process. The name Reynac was designed with a trailing "ac" typical of the region of Charentes (Cognac, Jarnac, Mérignac, etc). This Celtic sounding reflects the different historic possessions of Charentes and means property, fiefdom. "Rey" which means "king", gives noble origins to the product. Reynac could therefore be translated as "the King's fiefdom". White reynac pineau des charentes is made mainly from ugni blanc, Folle blanche and colombard grape varieties. it is matured in wood which gives it a pleasant bright yellow colour with golden glints.
